Press Release Body = April 15 is the 95th birthday of President Kim Il Sung, the father of socialist Korea. Commemorating this day as the Day of the Sun, the Korean people are overwhelmed with a strong yearning and boundless respect for him who was always among the people during his whole life. He embarked on the road of revolution in his teens. Since then he was always among the people in the long period of his revolutionary activities up to his 80s, regarding The people are my God as his motto. I have an object I worship like God, it is the people, I have believed in the people as in heaven, and I now serve them as my God, my God is none other than the people, nothing in the world is so almighty and powerful as the masses of the people, so I regard The people are my God as my lifelong motto, he said. So saying, he always put the people in the centre of history and as the master of the revolution and construction. He went among the people to listen to their opinions and demands before mapping out lines and policies of the Workers' Party of Korea and the state, and saw to it that factories, enterprises, schools, hospitals, dwelling houses and recreation grounds were so built as to give satisfaction to the people. He began his revolutionary struggle against the Japanese imperialist aggressors who militarily occupied Korea by going among the people and liberated the country by rousing them. He went among the people first when the agrarian reform was enforced after liberation. He regarded the agrarian reform as a problem to be solved before anything else at that time in Korea, a colonial agrarian country the majority of whose population were peasants, and stayed in many farming villages for three months. Sitting unceremoniously on strips of level ground under the eaves of simple peasant houses, he acquainted himself with how many family members there were, how much land they leased from landlords, how much they gathered crops, how much farm rent they paid, how many labourers there were in the families and how much land they needed for their life, before mapping out and proclaiming the Law on Agrarian Reform. The Korean peasants, who had realized their centuries-old desire to do farming on their own lands, extended their thanks to him out of delight after the Law on Agrarian Reform was made public. All the lines and policies put forward by the Workers' Party of Korea and the state during the protracted period from immediately after the liberation to the present such as the nationalization of major industries, the Law on Sex Equality, the agricultural cooperativization and the socialist transformation of private trade and industry are associated with his noble virtues who mixed with the popular masses and deeply considered their opinions and desires. President Kim Il Sung was always among the people, embraced them with love and placed them as the masters of the country. Soon after the liberation, he visited a farming village, let a farmhand who had suffered drudgery live in a confiscated landlord's house and wrote his name on his nameplate. When he was informed that a woman in a coal village had not a decent name of her own, he named her "Kim Pok Sun", meaning that she would enjoy her life with much blessing. Under his benevolent love for the people lots of workers and peasants humiliated and maltreated in the past grew into leading officials of the Party and state, and deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly, and the whole country is filled with jubilation of the people. Therefore, the Korean people will eternally uphold President Kim Il Sung as their benevolent father.
